Camping Brno Book on Hipcamp

Our beautiful 77 acre farm consists of around 20 acres of hay fields and 40 acres of forest. The remaining land is cultivated garden, planting, ponds, marsh, and prairie.

We have cut ATV trails throughout the wooded forest areas which connect with the land around. You can drive for hours between the connecting trails.

The farm offers breathtaking sunsets which can be seen from any angle. For those with an interest in star-gazing, the Northern Lights can occasionally be observed pulsated overhead. The lack of light pollution provides excellent astronomical opportunities.

The quiet peacefulness is only disturbed by the sounds of wildlife which are all around, most commonly sandhill cranes, eagles, Franklin’s Ground Squirrels, porcupines, snapping turtles, and deer. Coyotes and wolves keep their distance but can often be heard howling. Bears and cougars have also been rarely spotted in the area but don’t come close to the farm as they are quite scared of us.

The farmhouse and garden area is well lit with a ring of lights encircling it.

Brno Farm has been hosting Boondockers since early 2022, and officially opened Camping Brno in 2023. We currently offer 4 casual camping sites with picnic benches and firepit grills. Firewood is available to purchase along with fresh bread.

We currently only host fully contained RVs and offer no electrical hookups, water hookups, or sanitation. However we do have well water to refill tanks and an outdoor electrical point for charging.Next year we hope to provide a wider range of facilities and more sites.

About Us

We bought Brno Farm in 2022, moving here from the Twin Cities. Previously we lived in the UK. Our family of four has found our forever home here, combining homeschooling, a design business, writing novels, and hay bailing, with our growing campsite, Camping Brno, among other endeavors.

We also grow food and cook it.

Brno Farm

The farm house itself dates back to around 1890, but was remodeled and extended by previous owners. The descendants of the original farm owners still live in the township. Brno Farm is a working hay farm and it also has ATV trails that connect with neighboring properties. many miles of trails are accessible and open to use by our campers. There is also space for archery practice, cycling, hiking, and we have had a disc golfer here too.

Brno? Where’s the U?

There are several stories about how Bruno and Bruno Township gained their names. Because many of the early settlers were from Czechoslovakia, the city may have been named for Brno, a village in the Czech Republic. Robin is descended from Polish-Czech ancestors so obviously this theory is our favorite… hence why we went with Brno… without the U.

Veronique

“I enjoyed a most relaxing and peaceful stay on the farm. There is ample parking with beautiful views of the surrounding fields, perfect for any size rig. I pulled in next to the barn and profited from the shade tree. The farm is accessible, not too far from the main highway, and road in is very well maintained and easy to navigate. The hosts are warm, gracious and extremely welcoming. It was a pleasure to meet them and hear their story and about their plans for this special place. I would definitely stay again.”

“If you’re looking to unplug from society for a bit and just enjoy some peace and quiet, this is your place. It’s very remote—located on a dead end road so you will hear virtually no traffic. The land is absolutely stunning, the sunsets are unreal, and you can see so many stars! The hosts are absolutely lovely and have some really amazing plans for the property! The driveway is a bit tight, but we made it in on the first try with our 40’ rig—take your time and have a spotter. Will most definitely be back!”

“This spot is remote but thats why it’s awesome. The hosts are lovely and we shared a vegan meal and had such a lovely evening! We arrived after dark but the host still met us at the gate. Water fill up and power was easily accessible.”

“We enjoyed our stay at the farm. The hosts were so welcoming and gracious and we caught the vision for their plans for the property. Our parking spot was easy to get to, on grass next to the barn and some nice shade trees with a lovely view. We especially enjoyed peacefully sitting on the deck of the barn and reading. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.”

“Great property! Has 50amp service but does not fit 50 amp rv plug. use 15 amp. A lot of space but weather dod not cooperate. Very wet before we came, and snowed overnight. Had to get towed out the next morning. Thanks Robin!!”
